Meet the Tutor
Hi, I’m Harriet!
I’ve been teaching since 2015 and founded HQ Learning in 2022. Over the years, I have fallen in love with the 11+ curriculum. For me, it’s a brilliant collection of puzzles and challenges that I genuinely love solving with students. I went through this exact process myself as a child, passing the 11+ and attending Rugby High School, so I know exactly what the journey feels like from both sides of the desk!
My Style: Enthusiastic, Fun & Nurturing
Children learn best when they feel safe and excited. My lessons are high-energy and fun, but deeply supportive. My priority is building your child’s confidence and making sure they look forward to coming to class.
Why Small Groups Work Better
I am incredibly passionate about the power of small group tuition:
Students bounce ideas off each other, problem-solve as a team, and make friends.
Group learning naturally teaches children to think for themselves and build independence to help them thrive as high-achievers throughout KS2.
With deep curriculum expertise and a genuine love for what I do, I can’t wait to help your child unlock their full potential!

My daughter has been learning with Harriet for a few weeks now for her 11+ and I've seen such a change in her confidence. She loves learning new material each week and keen to get her weekly homework done. I can see a confidence growing in herself and her approach to learning.

Thank you very much for marking and feeding back about my son's practice test on Monday. Your comments and the breakdown of the scores for each section are really detailed and helpful. Both us as parents and our son are really pleased with his progress and result. The test at this point is really handy as he seems to be motivated by his achievement and we are all clear on which areas to work on.

Is this 11+ preparation? Will it be too advanced for a Year 3 child?
What do the lessons look like in Reasoning Club?
Is my child too young for group learning? How will they manage straight after a long school week?
We call it a club because we want the children to love coming! Our Year 3 sessions are highly interactive, practical, and fast-paced. Sessions include: hands on activities with physical resources, collaborative problem solving and brain-building games as well as written exercises and worksheets.

Reasoning Club is not intensive 11+ preparation, but a tuition group carefully tailored to be completely age-appropriate for 7 and 8-year-olds who want to build the foundations for future exam preparation. We are building the core problem-solving, vocabulary, and spatial awareness skills your child will need later on in a fun and practical way that matches their current development and supports in-school learning.
To keep things incredibly supportive for Year 3, our maximum group size is strictly capped at just 4 children. The atmosphere is relaxed and distinctly different from school; the children are welcome to bring a snack to refuel, and we build in plenty of short brain breaks to keep their energy up. I am also fully First Aid trained, so you can be sure they are in safe, experienced hands while they have fun and learn.
